photoblog image Memorial Tiles

Memorial Tiles

In NYC, the locals constantly talk to outsiders, in my limited experience about two things.

The cost of renting or buying property in the city (huge money)

And 9-11. This is a picture of a memorial set up to allow the children of the city to have their say on what happened. You can only see a small selection of the tiles the local kids decorated, and wrote on. There are hundreds of them attached to this fence. Maybe I am wrong, but in the UK I don't think this would still be standing, vandals being what they are here.

Well we have roadside memorials up here in the mist that have stood the test of time. This is a top capture, thought provoking.
Chris Macnamara: Cheers Max. It was quite a poignant (sp?) moment passing this spot. Could do a whole series photographing the different messages left here.
What a wonderful idea. Beautifully captured, too. (:o)

spot on, it would be gone! love the shot. mal
A very moving image. The contrast between the ugly wire fence and the brightly-coloured, childish painting is very poignant.

I remember seeing those, Chris, from the top of a double-decker tour bus. Very touching, indeed.
